William J. Collins, Lt. Col. USAF (ret) William Joseph (''Bill'') Collins, born in Andover, Massachusetts, March 30, 1920, died following a serious head injury, December 10, 2003. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary L. (''Penny'') Collins, children Peggi Collins (Steve Cocks), Martha Collins (Jim Auckland), David (Patti) Collins and Betsy Collins (Patrick McNulty), four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers Paul and Arthur Collins, and sisters, Evie Barry, Patsy Kornachuck and Dodie Gemmell, all of Andover, Mass. Bill was a fighter pilot in Korea and China, serving in the USAF for 20 years. He was then employed by Hughes Aircraft for 28 years, retiring in 1989. His love of life was contagious and he lived it to the fullest. Bill loved to be the center of attention and if you were his friend, you were a friend for life. An avid golfer, Bill and Penny traveled the world to play the best courses and have been members of the Yorba Linda Country Club for 23 years. Bill will be sorely missed by his family and friends, but we give thanks for having had him in our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the SPCA or your favorite charity.
