William Speros passed away October 6, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on January 21, 1927, the third of seven children of Gus and Hilda Speros. Raised in Springfield, Ohio, he enlisted in the Navy during WWII, serving as a Signalman 3rd Class, stationed in Tientsin, China, guarding Japanese prisoners. He graduated from Wittenberg College in 1951 and moved to California in 1952.
William was a Contract Administrator for the Space and Communications Group at Hughes, Rockwell and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He was a prolific writer, musician, pilot, sailor, gymnast, and camper. William loved gardening; he personally planned and landscaped his home overlooking the ocean.
William was a wonderful husband and father. His loyalty and devotion to his family and friends will truly be missed. He is preceded in death by brothers George and Gregory. He is survived by wife Jeannine; daughters Gemma, Christina, and Laura; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings Chris, Catherine, Marshall, and Tom.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
