William G. Richardson December 13, 1926 – June 17, 2013 William G. "Bill" Richardson, 86, of Palos Verdes, passed away June 17, 2013 after a long illness. Raised in Millbrae, California, Bill was the only son among the five children born to William Alexander and Katherine Louise (Calvin) Richardson. After leaving high school to join the Navy during World War II, Bill put himself through college, obtaining bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering. He spent 40 years at Hughes Aircraft Company's Space and Communications Group, where he played a key role in many space projects including the Surveyor missions which paved the way for manned lunar exploration. He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Gwendolyn (Philips) Richardson, their five children William Richardson of Cleveland, Ohio; John Richardson of Laguna Niguel, California; Keith Richardson (Eileen) of San Diego, California; Mickie Williams (Scott) of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Janet Richardson (Mike Robinson) of Long Beach, California, as well as four grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Erin Williams, Kyle Richardson, and Andrew Richardson. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Currier. Services will be held Friday, June 21, at 11:00 am at St. John Fisher Church, 5448 Crest Road West, Rancho Palos Verdes, with burial to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes
