William (Bill) Karr passed away October 27, 2006 in Torrance, 91 years young. He was born in Brownsville, Nebraska on December 9, 1914. Bill grew up in Nebraska and Missouri where his family farmed. In the 1930’s he moved to Denver, Colorado to attend Denver University. During the 1940’s he relocated to California to work in the wartime aircraft industry. While at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica he met and fell in love with Jeannette. They began a 50 year marriage settling in Gardena. They had one daughter Paula who was the focus and love of their lives. Bill retired after 42 proud years at McDonnell/Douglas and pursued hobbies of reading, gardening, playing the piano, working on his cars, and home remodeling. He will be best remembered for always being a gentleman. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Jeannette and his brothers Harold and Dean. He is survived by daughter Paula and her love Steven Vios; sister-in-law Jean Karr; nephew David (wife Laura), grand nephew Bradley, and grand niece Emily Karr. He is fondly remembered by longtime friend and caregiver Bertha (husband Johnny) Richardson. We loved him and will miss him dearly. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 8 with reception to follow at Rice Mortuary in Torrance.
