WILLIAM A. TOLLIFFE
A 46 year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Bill passed away early in the morning on October 23, 2008. He was born on November 6, 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he grew up and graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. A proud WWII veteran, he served with the Army in the Pacific and was awarded the Bronze Star and received the Purple Heart. Bill worked in gear manufacturing in WI, sang with a Barbershop Quartet, The Cordials, and on November 1, 1952 married his wife, Zona. They began raising a family in Wauwatosa. At Our Saviors Lutheran Church he served on the Council and sang in the choir. In 1962 the family moved to CA and built a home on the Peninsula. At Resurrection Lutheran Church he continued in the choir and was the baritone soloist. He was active in Boy Scouts and especially enjoyed accompanying the Scouts on hikes and campouts. Family vacations in National Parks were regular events and after the children graduated from college Bill and Zona became world travelers. Bill earned an MBA, was a member of Men's Club at the Neighborhood Church, worked on Fourth City committees, Abalone Cove Homeowners Association, PERT, and was an Area Coordinator for Neighborhood Watch.
He is survived by his wife, Zona, son Brin (Donna), daughter Claire (David Waldner), and son Drew, grandchildren Stacy Bolling (Cole), Steven Tolliffe, and Maren Waldner.
He was predeceased by son Bruce.
Graveside services will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery, New Berlin, WI on October 31 at 11:00 AM.
