Walter R. Wallner, Sr. April 7, 1916 - November 10, 2004 Wallner, Walter Robert Louis of Palos Verdes Estates, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, November 10, 2004, surrounded by his family. Wally, as he was known to his friends, was 88. He was a veteran of WWII Army Air Corp flying 50 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross on 3 occasions and the Air Medal 3 times. Wally lived in Palos Verdes Estates for 53 years. He was a devout member of Immanuel Luther Church in Redondo Beach. His career was with Sears for 40 years and he was an active member of the Palos Verdes Breakfast Club. His beloved wife, Irene, passed away 2 years ago. He is survived by his two sons, Wally (Jr.) of Danville and Jerry of Santa Barbara, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the family home at 11 AM on Thursday November 18, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, PO Box 96268, Washington, DC 20090.

  1. A good neighbor, fellow Palos Verdes Breakfast Club member, pilot and WW II veteran. I had breakfast with him recently at his home. May God bless him–he will be missed.

  2. Wally, and Irene, were our neighbors for almost 40 years, and we are so sorry to read in today\’s paper–which arrived by mail too late to attend the home service–of Wally\’s passing. He was a kind and gentle man, loved by all of us. God bless his family, The Hinchliffe Family
