Walter
Smith, Walter Duane, a 33 year resident of Lomita, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 in Torrance. He was born in Nebraska, July 6, 1926. Walter was 81. Walter had served in the Army during WWII. He was a lifelong Corvette lover and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church and retired after more than 40 years of service from North American Rockwell. Walter is survived by his beloved wife Maria of 33 years; daughter Mary (Joseph) La Riccia of Cerritos; granddaughter Kristina Campese of Bellflower; nieces Charlene (Mike) Walsh of Lakewood and Ronda (Kenny) Vickery of Oregon; great-nephew Kevin Vickery of Oregon. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter E. and Edith Smith and brother Ronald Smith. A gathering of family & friends will be held Wednesday, October 10 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Trisagion Services beginning at 6:00 PM at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. Graveside Service will be held Thursday, October 11th at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn in Cypress. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church. The family wishes express our deepest gratitude to Fr. Michael Courey and Deacon Cary Constantine for their love, guidance and support and to our extended church family at St. Katherine's.
