Vivian Hoffman, a 35 year resident of Hermosa Beach, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 in Torrance. Born in Cedar Lake, Indiana, Vivian was 77 when she died. Vivian had served as a WAC during the Korean Conflict. She was a retired teacher of the Los Angeles public school system and a long time member and past president of the Women’s Club of Hermosa Beach. Vivian started their most successful fundraiser, the Hermosa Beach Women’s Club annual Pancake Breakfast. Vivian had a deep love for animals, especially her loyal animal companion, a sweet poodle named Christopher (Chrissy). Prior to her illness, Vivian and Chrissy loved to spend time visiting with friends at the Hermosa Beach Farmers Market. She was preceded in death by her parents: Eva and Irvin Hoffman and brothers, Clifford and Russell. She will be remembered and missed by her brother Roland Hoffman; nieces, Janice Knapik, Margaret Krisic, Laura Hoffman, Susan Hegyi, and nephew Jerry Hoffman. We’ll miss her compassion and generous spirit. A private burial at sea will take place on July 16th. The family would like to honor her love for animals and asks that those planning an expression of sympathy consider a donation to a favorite animal welfare organization.
