Victoria Lynn Johnson, 49, of Torrance, CA, passed away December 5, 2020, in Torrance CA at her parents’ house surrounded in love by her family after her epic battle with brain cancer. Victoria was born in Whittier CA to Joan and Larry Johnson on February 24, 1971 as the fifth of six children. She graduated from South Torrance High School in 1989 where she received MVP recognition as a soccer player. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Point Loma Nazarene University and passed all four parts of the CPA exam in one sitting. Her life’s calling to serve on the mission field inspired her to attend Fuller Theological Seminary where she earned a Master’s degree in Crosscultural Studies. In the midst of her academic accomplishments she also trained for and completed the LA marathon in 2000.
For the next 20 years, she traveled to and lived in Taiwan, South Africa, Kazikstan, Tibet and China spreading the word of God, learning the local languages and using her multitude of talents to help communities, churches and most importantly women and children in need. She ended her career in China at the International China Concern orphanage where she put her heart and soul into loving and advocating for innocent babies born into the shadows of life. She held them tight, accepted them and made them feel warmth, love and joy when no one else could. When she passed away, Victoria’s room was filled with pictures of all the children that had filled her heart.
When she was not on the mission field, Victoria enjoyed spending time with her family in California and her home away from home in New Jersey. She loved taking walks with her sisters, baking (and eating) chocolate chip cookies and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially huskies.
Victoria is survived by her parents, Joan and Larry Johnson of Torrance; her siblings, Susan Bibbo, Sharon McMahon, Larry Johnson, Jeanne Johnson and Kristin Diiorio and her nieces and nephews, Megan, Molly, Meri, Chrysta, Julie, Jake, Matt, Jessie, Joey, Alaina, Mason, Charlie and one special little great niece Lyra who brought her many moments of joy in her last few months on earth.
Memorial donations may be made to International China Concern by visiting www.chinaconcern.org/donate <http://www.chinaconcern.org/donate> and please indicate “In honor of Victoria Johnson” in the message section. Her family would like to extend their gratitude to all the friends and family who have loved and supported Victoria throughout her life.

Dear Jeanne and the Johnson Family,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of Victoria. Even though I never met her, Jeanne always mentioned to me how proud she was of her and her works all over the globe on behalf of underprivileged children.
I wish you all strength and comfort during this most difficult time.
