Theophil
MOGCK, Theophil (Ted) Gerhardt passed away December 22, 2002 at the age of 88. He was born on March 28, 1914 in Parkston, South Dakota and has been a resident of Westchester since 1944. His wife of 60 years, Stella and his only daughter, Jeannette Lenhart preceded Ted in death. He is survived by his three sons, James and his wife Mary of Lakewood, Robert and Donald both of Westchester; his four grandchildren David, Pamela, Teresa and her husband Daniel, and Jacqueline and her husband Kevin; and four great-grandchildren Lucas, Kaila, Rachel, and Nathan. Ted began his career as a machinist in Tripp, South Dakota for a farm machine and tractor shop. In December 1939 Ted moved to California to work with airplanes. He enrolled in the Warren's School of Aeronautics Trade School and in 1940 he went to work for North American Aviation. After the war, Ted went to work at Paramount Auto Parts, then back to work for North American Experimental Program. He later returned to Paramount Auto Parts and work there until his retirement in 1984. Ted and Stella joined the Westchester United Methodist Church in 1947 and Ted soon became involved in the campaign drive for the building of the Sanctuary. When his children were young Ted was involved in the Cub Scouts, YMCA Junior High and Senior Y, and when he had the time, he enjoyed woodworking. Ted was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2002 at Westchester United Methodist Church, 8065 Emerson Ave., Westchester, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Westchester United Methodist Memorial Fund 8065 Emerson Ave., Westchester, CA 90045 (310) 670-3777 or to the American Cancer Society.
