Thekla Nestlerode McManus born July 5, 1916 at Charleroi, PA died on Dec. 15, 2003. She was a 48-year resident of Torrance; a charter volunteer for Little Company of Mary Hospital; an elected Regent and member of Court St. Catherine Catholic Daughters; an accomplished duplicate bridge player; and a loving mother and wife. Her husband of 65 years, Patrick K. McManus, and two grandchildren preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters Patricia Rodriguez of Laguna Woods; Maureen McManus Gelb of Spring Valley Lake; Lou Morris of Hermosa Beach; Sheila McLean of Sun Valley, ID; sons Kevin McManus and Mark McManus both of Spokane; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Dec. 19, 2003, 4 to 8 PM and a rosary service at 7 PM both at White & Day Colonial Mortuary, 901 Torrance Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA; Mass of Christian burial celebrated by Bishop Joseph Sartoris at Risen Jesus Chapel, Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 Slauson, Culver City, CA at 10 AM Dec. 20, 2003.

  1. I miss you very much. You were the best Grandma that a kid could have wished for. Heaven must be just like a Nestlerode July 4th picnic. It\’s when I remember you, Grandma at your happiest.

  2. My Mom and the only Mother Rod has had for the last 40 yeaars. Will be missed by our family. We loved her so!
