  1. For my syblings and I, this is a time of ponderance. In a very short period of time, our entire lifespan’s experiences parades in our minds. Suddenly, a life has stopped, but in many ways continues uninterrupted. Teofilo, my father, lives on in me: in my blood, his blood thrives; in my actions, his teachings manifest as my own; my feelings and my emotions are shaped by his interactions with me during the time he and I shared life.

  2. My father’s passing away happened very peacefully: his life ceased during his sleep, and every one of us that saw him that morning thought he was still sleep. His facial expresion seemed to show he was dreaming. In fact, he had just begun to enjoy eternal peace.
