Suzanne R. Hoffman

HOFFMAN, SUZANNE R. A 48 year resident of Palos Verdes Estates, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on March 28, 2004. Born 1924 in Brownsville, PA., Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband Russell and daughter Katherine. Suzanne is survived by daughter Kristine E. Mrofka and sons William R. Hoffman (Liz) and Paul R. Hoffman (Dorine). A very proud grandmother, she is also survived by grandsons Matthew Mrofka and Russell Hoffman, and grandchildren-by-marriage, Lauren, Damian and Stephen Mrofka. Suzanne earned her Bachelor's in 1945, taking only 3 years to earn a degree in journalism from Penn State. Both she and her husband Russell instilled a love for education and achievement in their chldren, as evidenced by all 4 kids' graduating from various UC campuses. A life-long voracious reader, she would always be there to check homework and quiz her kids over breakfast before exams at school. As a homemaker she had her hands full both in P.V. and at the family's Lake Arrowhead cabin where many happy memories were born. She loved to decorate the P.V. house for all the holidays, and always went 'above and beyond' for Christmas in particular, to the delight of the entire family. Suzanne was generous in support of the causes she championed, with long term charitable giving to veteran's organizations, education on American Indian reservations, and support of Little Company of Mary Hospital's community outreach programs to name a few. Mom, we did not want you to leave but you are home now. You will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed. You are loved. A memorial service will be held at WHITE & DAY COLONIAL MORTUARY, 901 W. Torrance Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA 90277 at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 6.
