Steven Roy Alvarez, a 20 year resident of Torrance, CA, passed away on Monday, April 28th, 2003. Born in Torrance Steven was 20 years old when he died. He was a member of St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, graduate of West Torrance class of 2000 and became Head Coach for West High School's Freshman Wrestling Team. Steven worked part-time for Ralph's Market as a cashier and was a full-time student attending El Camino College, all while pursuing his future career plans of becoming a firefighter. He is survived by his parents, Hank & Cecilia Alvarez, his brothers, Henry, Michael & Jonathan Alvarez. His grandparents, Silvino & Victoria Alvarez & Grandmother Mercedes Gamboa as well as Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He is also survived by his long time girlfriend, Erica Muller & Family. Steven touched many lives and will always be remembered by his family & friends. Visitation will be held Thursday May 8th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the White and Day Colonial Mortuary in Redondo Beach. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held at St. Lawrence Martys Catholic Church at 7:00pm on Thursday.   5. Steve was a truly wonderful man who had the heart of an angel. He always found the best in people and was always there when you needed a friend. Steve has touched a large number of people in many different ways – I can guarantee he will never go a minute without being thought of, remembered,or missed.   11. I have always told my 3 sons to consider themselves blessed to have a few good friends in life. Steve was one of those few for my son, Brian. I have so many fond memories of Steve, Brian and Mark (the three musketeers as we called them). They were always together throughout high school, and I know they still got together whenever they had a chance even though miles separated them. I always will remember Steve\’s smile, his kindness, his humor, and most of all his friendship with my son. He will be greatly missed. My family\’s thoughts and prayers are with the family, and also Erica and her family at this very difficult time.

  16. I remember Steven at the Frosh/Soph baseball tryouts when his brother Jonathan made the team and how excited he was. He told Jonathan that he would come to all the games. I was so inpressed with the bond between Steven and Jonathan. He seemed to be a great older brother. I know he will be missed dearly. My heart goes out to the family.
