Stamatina Stathoulis of Torrance, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Stamatina was born in Tripoli, Greece on November 11, 1931, the daughter of George and Kaliopi Lykos. Stamatina graduated college in 1954, with a Master's Degree in Cooking. She became a teacher, who taught Home Economics at the Girls College in Athens, Greece. While visiting the U.S.A. to see her Aunt and Uncle "The Lucas Family" in Redlands, CA, she met and married her husband Louie on January 29, 1960. Stamatina had a very deep faith in her church and always so proud to be a Greek Orthodox Christian. She enjoyed being with her family, cooking, walking with Louie, and attending St. Katherine Church every Sunday. She was always giving, nurturing and friendly to all that touched her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Louie Stathoulis; her son, George Stathoulis; daughter, Kelly (Chris) Donlou; son, John Stathoulis; and loving grandchildren, Chase Donlou and Krista Donlou. A Trisagion Service will be held on Thursday, January 17 at 7:00 P.M. at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 18 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, followed by procession to the Graveside Interment at Green Hills Memorial Park. The Makaria Reception will follow burial at Limani Taverna, San Pedro, In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Memory of Stamatina Stathoulis.
