Jecmen, Sophia Genevieve, a 47 year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes and 67 year resident of California, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009 in Rancho Palos Verdes. Born in Chicago, IL, Sophia was 94 when she died. Sophia was a member of St. John Fisher Church and a Registered Nurse for 73 years.
Both of Sophia's parents were immigrants from Poland during the first part of the last century. She was a Registered Nurse with advanced education in home health care. She also worked as an Industrial nurse for over 30 years at Continental Can Company, B.F. Goodrich, General Motors and Pacific Pumps . She was a devoted wife, daughter and mother. She nursed her husband George A. Jecmen as well as her mother Lottie Buczynski while they were on hospice in her home at the same time 20 years ago.
Sophia loved attending senior yoga and exercise classes faithfully several days a week where she met many of her friends. She was a very happy fun person who made friends and usually adopted them as family. She also leaves her beloved dog Fi Fi. She will be missed by her immediate family the most.
She is survived by her Daughter, Sandra (Craig Dresman) Davidson of Anaheim Hills, CA, Son, Robert (Teri Collette) Jecmen of Huntington Beach, CA, and her caregiver Tonnette Haley of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Preceded in death by her loving husband George ; Father, Bruno Buczynski and Mother, Lottie Buczynski as well as her daughter in-law Loretta Jecmen.
A funeral mass will be held at St. John Fisher Church in Rancho Palos Verdes on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. Interment will be private.
