Sister Teresa Marie McIntier, C.S.J. age 97, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at St. John of God Retirement Center in Los Angeles, CA. Born October 25, 1923 in Los Angeles California, was a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet since March 19, 1940.

Sister Teresa Marie, as an RN, ministered in all the hospitals sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph, serving in a variety of departments including Hospice Administrator and Nursing Instructor. Sister was a pioneer in the field of Hospice in Arizona and was a friend of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, MD.

While serving as pastoral associate in Phoenix, Arizona, she co-authored “Will You Hold My Hand and Let Me Die” to be used by volunteers to the terminally ill. Sister achieved national recognition as a Bereavement Minister and teacher. She had a special interest in working with children who were dying and ministering to their parents. Throughout her life, she was happiest when being of service to others. Her personal interest and loving presence were augmented by a superlative sense of humor.
