Surrounded by loved ones, Silvia Mercedes Barrios passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the age of 58 at her home in El Segundo, CA. She was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and immigrated to the United States, a young girl at the age of 14.
Silvia came from a large family and was the first of eight children. She is preceded by father Luis Tortola, and survived by mother Blanca Tortola, her daughter Juanita Flores, son Sam Fernandez and siblings Robert Tortola, Luis Tortola, Gus Saenz, Irene Tortola, Oscar Tortola, Jessica Chavira and Raquel Lall.
Silvia had a gift of working with special needs children and did so with an abundance of joy and patience. She enjoyed traveling and living every moment of her life to the fullest. Silvia was a strong woman who gave generously of her time, love and resources to those she loved. She is dearly missed by all.
