Ruth
Owens, Ruth Olive, born on the 4th of July, 1919, and leaving us all on the 29th of March at the age of 88. Blessed with a great intellectual curiosity and a view of the Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles as near as her back door, Ruth spent the last 45 years of her life in the home she loved on top of a hill in Redondo Beach. A member of Pentecostal Church for many years, and a supervisor at AT & T for 34 years, Ruth derived great pleasure from both the many services she participated in at church, as well as the many services she provided for the telephone company. Truth be told, deep love of family was the great passion of Ruth's life and she was a master at it. The world is greatly diminished by her passing, and although the sun will continue to shine, it will never again shine quite so brightly. She is survived by her Son James (Judy) Owens of Seal Beach, California and 2 Grandsons who adored her: Michael (Sonja) of Beverley, England and Matthew of Peoria, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her Parents James and Jessie Campbell; Husband Truman and Daughter Susan. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Pacific Crest Cemetery Chapel in Redondo Beach on Friday April 4, 2008, at 10am. A Graveside Service will follow at Pacific Crest Cemetery.

  1. Dear Jim and Judy, We were saddened to hear that Aunt Ruth had passed. John and I enjoyed visiting and talking with her when we were in the area. She always had words of encouragement, and showed great interest in our family’s endeavors. Of course we never missed a chance to catch up on you and your families’ lives. As an Aunt, she played a positive role in mine and John€™s formative years by setting an example that one could always reach beyond ones humble beginnings. She will be greatly missed and yet, held fondly in our memories. With Love and Deep Respect, John and Barbara

  2. Jim and Judy, We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. If there’s anything we can do please let us know. Love, Wynn & Shirley
