Russell James (Jim) Beach, A resident of Torrance since 1962, passed away peacefully at home on May 22 surrounded by his entire family. Jim suffered a severe stroke on May 4th. Soon after, he met Joyce Marie Trompics and they married on June 1, 1957. They had two daughters and in 1962 headed for the land of opportunity. There they had two sons and Jim found employment at GarrettAiresearch where he worked for 34 years and retired from in 1995. He enjoyed trips to New Mexico, putzin' in his garage and growing tomatoes (his famous ''Beachmasters''). He loved being Grandpa to his granddaughters. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joyce, daughters Joni and Sherri, sons Todd (Bridget) and Jamie (Vicky), daughter-in-law Trish, granddaughters Raina, Marissa, Brianne, Taylor and Tarisha, brother Scott, and their sister Dorothy. Also, many former co-workers, friends, and neighbors, especially his buddy Bert. Jim was an easy goin' guy, always sippin' on a Pepsi. A generous, loving husband and father, always there when needed. He was well liked and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be at Rice Mortuary on Tuesday, May 27 from 4 to 8pm. Services on Wednesday, May 28 at 3:00pm at Green Hills Chapel.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Joyce, Joni, Sheri, Todd, Jamie and all their loved ones. Jim may have been short in stature, but a tall man in love, respect, and humor. He always treated us like family, and we will miss hearing about his inventions. Although I hadn\’t seem him in nearly 6 years, since my graduation, it is a fond memory to know that him and Joyce attended one of my most celebrated days. We love you Joyce and our sympathies are with you. Love always, Kirsten Bustos and Family.
