HUNSICKER, RUSSEL LOREN, second son of Robert Loren and Bonnie Bernice (Blankenbaker) Hunsicker, was born October 23, 1922, east of Morland, Graham County, Kansas, passed away at his home in Manhattan Beach, California on April 2, 2001. He was 78 years, 5 months and 10 days old. During World War II he entered the service of the U.S. Army 3750th QM Truck Co., on December 24, 1942. After his basic training he was sent to Australia for six months, then served in New Guinea, Luzon and the Philippines. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and one Bronze Service Arrowhead, Pacific Theater Cir 465 WD44. He was discharged from the servcice on January 10, 1946, as Technician Fourth Grade at Ft. Logan, Colorado, then returned to Morland, Kansas. On April 25, 1946, was united in marriage to Mabel Lucille Keith in Osborne County, Kansas. To this union were born two children, Dianne Lea and Robert Loren. In 1951 the family moved to California where Russel attended a trade school and received his A & E Mechanic's License. He was employed with North American Aviation from 1952 to 1982 when he retired from the company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 184 of Redondo Beach, California, and was Block Captain for the Manhattan Beach Neighborhood Watch for almost 20 years. Russel is survived by his wife Mabel and his children, Dianne (Dennis) McCluskey of Phoenix, Arizona; Robert (Sharon) Hunsicker of Arvada, Colorado; granddaughter Janelle (Anthony) Serio; grandson Ryan (Melissa) Quigley; and one great grandson Kyle Wayne Serio. Local visitaion will be Thursday, April 5, 2001 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at WHITE & DAY MORTUARY, 3215 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach, CA, 90266.
