Roy

January 6, 1937 ~ August 14, 2022

Born in: Hawthorne, California
Resided in: Lawndale, California

Roy Ronald Combs, 85, of Lawndale passed away peacefully on August 14, 2022. Roy grew up in Lawndale, a town he loved and never left. He and his son Ronald Combs ran Independent Drywall in Lawndale for over 40 years and enjoyed spending time in the desert, and collecting guns and knives.

Roy Combs was an amazing man, kind to all and had a big heart. He was not suffering nor was he in pain, his great big heart just got tired.  Roy passed away the way he wanted to, in his home, sleeping and with dignity. He will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Roy is survived by his wife Mary Combs, his four children Debra Combs, Dana Combs, Ronald Combs and Shawn Goldenberg, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 8 great great-grandchildren.

Seeing as he had lived a fulfilling, long, and healthy life we have decided to have a celebration of life being held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Roy’s loved one to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions – Rice Center in Torrance on September 9, 2022 at 4:30 pm in the afternoon.

Bright colors are suggested.
Thank you all!

  1. candle 1Pa you will always hold a huge place in my heart. I only have good memories with you. From being a little girl riding in the dually out to the desert till we were saying I love you too each other before I left on Thursday. I was blessed to be able to spend time and laugh with you this past year and a half. I wouldn’t take back that time we spent together for any amount of money. My girls and Chubby were lucky enough to know and love their grandpa you were the last of their grandpas. I made a promise to you and I was able to keep my promise till the end and did so at any cost! My family and I will miss you terribly but will be able to think of you with smiles on our faces! Love you Pa

  2. candle 7Grandpa, I will always remember your laugh and smile. Your words of encouragement aren’t lost to these ears. I remember your fast driving! We were always hauling ass when you were driving! Cowboy hat and country music, some times rock and roll. These are just some of the very fond memories that I have of you…. Knowing that you are better place makes it a little easier. I love you. Until we meet again ……..
