September 1, 1917 ~ July 7, 2007
Rowena Conant Metoyer was born on September 1, 1917, to Willie Avit Conant and Ora Perot Conant in Natchitoches, LA, into a household of fifteen children, a close-knit, hardworking and generous family. As an elder sibling, she was entrusted with the responsibility of helping to raise her younger siblings - - skills which would serve her well as the sole provider for her disabled-veteran husband, Louis, and their five children. She was renowned for her seamstress skills. Her entrepreneurial instincts enabled her to supplement her income with real estate investments. Prior to her retirement, she was an employee of McDonald Douglas Aircraft, where she assembled upholstered seats and panels for jet aircraft. She was a jovial spirit who enjoyed entertaining family and friends alike. Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Louis, Jr.; brothers, William, Genesis, W.A., and Justin Adolph; sisters, Mary, Garnet and Velma. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Louis Albert Metoyer, Sr.; children, Patrick Gayle, Michael Arnold, Theresa Carolyn and Pamela Maria Felix; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John, James and Joseph; sisters, Alice, Theresa, Cecilia and Elouise. Services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery's Risen Christ Chapel on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 11:30 A.M. A reception will follow at McCormick Inglewood's Lighthouse Reception Room from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
