August 4, 1935 ~ September 9, 2011
Rosemarie Penque (1935-2011)
Our beloved Rosemarie (Rose) Penque (76) a resident of Torrance for 54 years, went to be with the Lord God in heaven on September 9, 2011 (her 58th wedding anniversary) after a short illness with pneumonia. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Providence Little Co of Mary Hospital. She was born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY on August 4, 1935 to Sam and Bernice Cesari. She grew up with her sister Shirley and brother Sam Jr. She was married to her one and only true love, Nicholas Penque on September 9, 1953. She worked for Bell Aircraft in NY until 1954 when she started their family. They moved to Southern California in 1957.
Rose was a wonderful, loving, loyal, wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend as well as an accomplished seamstress, gardener, cook, a jack of all trades, and CEO of her home and family. Most importantly she was her husband's wife, best friend and companion for 58 years. They loved attending Jazz concerts at Sangria and the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach and going to family gatherings often. No one could cook and entertain like Rosemarie. In her younger years she was a dancer, singer, and pianist, entertaining troops with the USO during WWII. She also loved football, Nascar and Indy car racing. She was a kind, and selfless person who was always there to listen or to lend a hand. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always kept us all laughing. We were so very blessed to have her for 76 years. She will be missed and will forever live on in our hearts. Rose is survived by her husband of 58 years, Nicholas Penque of Torrance, CA; daughter, Dawn (Kevin) Artinger of Rolling Hills Estates, CA; daughter, Sheree Penque of Naples, FL, son, Ronald Penque of Westminster, CO; daughter, Debra (Robert) Adams of Mashpee, MA; sister Shirley Cesari of Marina del Rey, CA; three grandchildren; and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Sam Cesari Sr., and her brother, Sam Cesari Jr. The Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Friday September 16, 2011 at 2pm followed by a Reception in the Lighthouse Room until 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
