Rose Marie Sikes

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Rose Marie (Mimi) Sikes (Drummond), 87, of Torrance, California, who passed away on March 4, 2023.

Rose Marie (Mimi) was born on May 3, 1935 in Bourbonnais, Illinois to Donald W. Drummond and Blanche Drummond (Graveline). She attended both Notre Dame Academy and Bradley- Bourbonnais High School and graduated in 1956. She worked at Kroehler Manufacturing in Bradley, Illinois after graduation.

In 1956, she met the love of her life, Joseph. They married at Maternity BVM church in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Mimi and Joe were together for more than 62 years at the time of his passing. They are survived by three sons; Jeffry, Gregory (Scott) and Bruce, as well as four grandchildren; Zachary, Jeffry, Ashtin, and Robert.

Mimi was active in the local PTA, and supported her longtime Torrance community and St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church for more than 50 years. She enjoyed the beach with friends Susan and Ruth. She dearly loved time outdoors exploring and camping with her family in California and Oregon. Among her favorite hobbies were traveling, reading, playing the organ and piano, gardening, and attending school when time permitted.

After Joseph retired from American Airlines, they spent time traveling the US and Canada to further enrich knowledge of their family ancestry.

She will be missed for her joy of life, Christmas cookies, and love of all things beautiful and natural.

Mimi is preceded by her beloved husband Joseph, her parents Donald W. Drummond and Blanche Drummond, her brother Donald E. Drummond, sisters Shirley Hewitt and Diane Drummond. She is survived by her sons and grandchildren, and  her sisters Victoria Rodgers and Patricia Drummond.

Final interment will be at the Maternity BVM Cemetery in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
