Magyar, Rose, a 31-year resident of Torrance, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007. Born in Montreal, Canada, Rose was 65 when she died. For over 25 years, Rose and her husband Joseph successfully owned and operated automotive service businesses in the South Bay area including Magyar Automotive and Globe Transmission. As a homemaker she raised three children, and in the later years thoroughly enjoyed being a grandmother to her three grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking traditional Hungarian dishes for her family and friends, as well as sewing, gardening, and reading. Rose actively participated in all of her childrens’ activities including Torrance Area Youth Band, AYSO Team Mom, Bishop Montgomery Team Mom and Booster Clubs. After retirement, she worked and volunteered at Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Hermosa Beach, CA. She is survived by her son, Joseph Magyar (wife Cindy) of Redondo Beach, CA, daughter, Mary Magyar of Montgomery, TX, and daughter, Rose Magyar of Oceanside, CA, three grandchildren also of Redondo Beach, CA., her sister, Mary Mayer of Budapest, Hungary and her brother, Nicholas Nagy of Montreal, Canada. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Magyar. The Memorial Service will be held at Rice Mortuary on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 9:00 A.M. A reception will be held in Rice Mortuary's Lighthouse Reception Room from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
