Ron Hopkins Recorded Zoom Service
Ron Hopkins Jr. (42 years old) passed away suddenly on August 24th, 2022 while at home with his wife, Erika Hopkins. He was born July 25, 1980 to parents Yolanda and Ronald Hopkins Senior.
He was an athlete in high school on both the football and wrestling teams. He attended El Camino College for several years before beginning his 16-year career with Torrance Unified School District working with special needs students. He was promoted to work with ASSIST through the district in 2015 and work closely with schools, behavior analysts, teachers, and paraeducators to create goals and lesson plans to help each student excel every year.
Ron also met Erika in 2015 at Kenneth Hahn Recreation Center after meeting online. They spent 6 hours walking around before moving to the Santa Monica Pier where they shared their first kiss. They dated for a year until Ron proposed in 2016 and they married on October 21, 2017 at Palos Verdes Country Club.
Everyone who knew Ron felt his tender, kind, generous and fun-loving nature. He loved working with special needs students. He was patient and skilled at creating methods and systems to aid in their success each school year. He loved fantasy football and would say that his favorite football team was always the team he drafted that year. He loved playing all kinds of games, they brought him so much joy. Whether they were board games or video games, he especially loved playing with his online community via the streaming service Twitch with the CRGameroom as well as DM North and others. He created deep and meaningful friendships throughout his life because he was never interested in shallow relationships. His community supported him and gave him so much joy and camaraderie. He loved playing in tournaments with such games as Dice Masters, Magic, and Star Wars Destiny. He loved the strategy and game-play but he also loved the people he played with, both in-person and online. That was his happy place where he could be accepted and play with his fellow gamers and friends.
He loved his wife with all his being, each and every day from the day they met until the night he went to be with God and join the family and friends who had gone before him. This wasn’t the ending either of them expected, but he kept true to his promise to love and cherish her until the day he died. He was her best friend and life partner. They shared everything together and felt safe to be themselves with one another. He will always have her heart and she is eternally grateful to have known, and to be known, by such a wonderful man. She will always miss him but she is thankful she has a true guardian angel looking out for her from heaven. I love you my babes. Forever.
