Roman
Samperio, Roman, a 42 year resident of San Pedro, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 in San Pedro. Born in 1942 in Pachuca de Soto near Mexico City, Mexico, Roman was 66 when he died. Roman was an expert welder for over 40 years and was a proud member of United Association Local Union 250 and the Sons of Italy. The Alaskan pipeline, were among the many projects on which he worked and of which he was proud. Roman had many personal interests, hobbies and was artistic in many areas. He created metal sculptures, sketched, painted and had recently enrolled in an art school. He also created many wrought iron works including a large devotional candelabra for St. Cecilia's church in Los Angeles. Roman was known among his friends and family for his bright smile, his zest for life and his love of music, and dance. Roman liked fine things, but he loved simple things even more, such as a home-cooked meal with his family. He loved Southern California/Los Angeles and enjoyed showing his three grandchildren the amusement parks, beaches, and sights of Southern California. Roman also enjoyed traveling and in recent years he visited Mexico, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Croatia. He is survived by Carmen, his wife of 38 years and his daughters Cithlally, Ixchel, and Marisol. The Service will be held at Rice Chapel on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.

  1. Dear Carmen, Chitlally, Ixchel & Marisol, and all close family members to Roman~ Memory will always be of the genuine warmth that Roman radiated–with his smile and hospitality! I know Roman was so proud of all of you, especially you three beautiful daughters & his three grandchildren. He will forever endow his family with the legacy of grace. Even though our paths crossed for a short few years…I felt very endeared by his love and honor of all of you. And I do believe that little Mr. Miles reminds me a lot of him! My sincerest thoughts are with you all, for the peace in knowing that Roman will always be with you. I know you will have enduring pride, love and joy from sharing your life path with him. When you feel a special glow or warmth on your face, believe it is him giving you a kiss… Much Love from the Glidden Family ~ Janie Glidden
