Robert Lee Mc Gee was born on August 26, 1918 in Fayette, Mississippi to loving parents Harriet Turner and Benjamin Mc Gee. He was an only child. Robert Mc Gee was raised in the farming community of Fayette, Mississippi. Despite his love for school he discontinued his education before completing high school and began working with his father as a sharecropper. In 1936, he was drafted into the United States Army and spent a very short time in the military. In 1943 he married his devoted wife of 50 years Juanita Hatton. In 1944 Robert and Juanita gave birth to their only child, a beautiful daughter, Rosetta Mc Gee. Later that year they moved to Los Angeles, California. He worked hard as a self-employed mover and hauler. He had a passion for real estate investing. For many years Robert resided in Apple Valley, California where he enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables as a past time. He was a strong believer in the saying, “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.” Robert Lee Mc Gee lived a fulfilling life and was at peace when he departed us on Monday, November 28, 2005 at his home in Los Angeles, California. In 1993 his wife Juanita preceded him in death. He will be greatly missed by: his caring daughter Rosetta Muhammad; grandchildren, Robert L. Thompson, Sr., Kenneth L. Smith, Sr. and Tara Smith; great-grandchildren, Briana L. Thompson, Robert L. Thompson, Jr., Kenneth L. Smith, Jr., Kyon L. Smith, Kieshon L. Smith, Duraisha Smith, Tarisha E. Allen, Milton Earl Allen, Jr. and a host of other family and friends.
