It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Bob” Shaw announces his passing on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the age of 82. Bob was born in Epps, Louisiana on January 8, 1937. The second of thirteen children, he relocated to the Los Angeles area in 1952, eventually settling in Redondo Beach. He married his wife Lillie, in 1959. After coming to California, he learned the plumbing trade, working for Windsor Plumbing in Manhattan Beach for nearly 30 years before becoming a licensed plumbing contractor and establishing Robert J. Shaw Plumbing in 1983, which he continued to operate until retiring in 2017. Bob was well known in the South Bay through his professional work and as a longtime member of the Lions Club. Bob served as president at the North Redondo, Redondo, Torrance and El Segundo Sunshine clubs. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lillie and his daughters Tammie (Gary) Scott of Carson and Robin (Dean) Ivester of Sunnyvale, and his son Bob Jr. of Redondo Beach. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Gary (Kelly) Scott of St. Charles, MO, Amanda Scott of Redondo Beach, Christina, Anthony and Isabel Ivester of Sunnyvale and his great-grandchildren Velina and Caleb Scott of Redondo Beach. Bob is also survived by seven of his siblings - Bonnie, John, Charles, Linda, Emma, Betty and Billy (all of Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana) and many nieces and nephews. A reception in his honor will be held at Gardena Elks Lodge, 1735 W. 162nd Street, Gardena, CA 90247 --- Sunday, May 26 at 1pm.
