Robert Earl Ruffin (Jim) age 73 was a native of Butler, AL and a 50 year resident of Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by his mother Lovie Ruffin, step-father Paul Ruffin, father George Wilcox, and sister Elaine Ruffin. Robert was united in Holy Matrimony in 1963 to Dorothy Robbins of Mobile, Al and from this union came four children. In 1963, he moved to Los Angeles and was employed by the Alabama Pipe Company for several years. He later began a successful career in public service for the County of Los Angeles as a Maintenance Engineer and served 26 years of loyal public service before his retirement on March 31, 1999. He is survived by Dorothy Ruffin his beloved wife of 50 years in marriage; two devoted daughters: Veronica Aretha Ruffin and Danita Rene Ruffin; two devoted sons: Don Ameche (Arlene) Ruffin and Leo Demiro Ruffin; three devoted sisters: Pauline (John) Rudolph, Gladys Davis, and Dorothy Wallace; one devoted brother, George Wilcox; sister-in-law Willie Mae Collins; brother-in-law Lewis (Delores) Robbins; cherished nieces and nephews: Myrtice (Eric) Agee, Myra Rudolph, Aeriel (Jerry) Walley, Angela Davis, Melanie (Alton) Hardy, Janine (Chris) Wilson, John Rudolph and Paul Martel Ruffin and a host of loving grandchildren, family and friends.

    Thank you for the unwavering love you showed me as my father. I thank God for sharing you with me for these past 48 years. It is hard to say goodbye and I will truely miss you. I will forever carry my memories of you for the remainder of my life. You gave me a wealth of life lessons that will always guide me through life’s journey.   6. To Mrs Ruffin, Veronica, Amber and all the Ruffin Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr Ruffin. I had the honor of speaking with him one time as I called Veronica’s home to speak with Amber. I will never forget the kindness and respect that I sensed through his voice. I want you to know that I am praying for you and asking the God of all Comfort to allow you to feel His comfort in a special way in this time of grief. We don’t always understand why things happen the way they do but we can be certain that God’s thoughts and plans for you are for good and not for evil, …, Jeremiah 29:11.

    WHEN I HEARD THAT YOU DIED IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME AND MY MOM I WAS REALLY SHOCKED. BUT I KNOW YOUR IN A BETTER PLACE IM GLAD YOUR NOT SUFFERING ANYMORE. YOU TOOK CARE OF ME WHEN MY MOM HAD TO GO TO WORK I WAS 4 MONTHS WHEN YOU STARTED TO TAKE CARE OF ME. YOU USED TO TAKE ME TO WENDYS AFTER SCHOOL AND YOU LET ME GET WHATEVER I WANTED. I HOPE I SEE YOU IN HEAVEN. I KNOW YOUR WITH YOUR MOTHER IN LAW,SISTER AND REAL MOTHER. EVEN THOUGH YOUR GONE I STILL FEEL LIKE YOUR STILL HERE. I MISS YOU SITTING ON THE COUCH WATCHING THE DODGERS GAME. MY CAT TIA MISSES YOU CAUSE SHE ALWAYS GO’S TO THE COUCH AND SNIFFS. AND I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVED ICE CREAM YOUR FAVORITE WAS ROCKY ROAD I DIDNT EAT IT MUCH CAUSE IM NOT ALL THAT IN TO CHOCOLATE.
