Chalfant, Robert "Scott", a 40 year resident of Palos Verdes Estates, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 16, 2007. Born in Fresno on Mar. 2, 1924, Scott moved to Oakland where he graduated from Oakland High School in 1942. While in high school, he was voted Student Body President for all Oakland high schools. Scott later attended UC Berkeley and proudly supported the Blue and Gold throughout his life. He faithfully served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He married his true love, Florence Muhlmann, in 1946. They enjoyed 54 years together as a loving couple. A natural salesman, Scott worked for Trimfit Inc., Hanes Hosiery Inc., Burlington Industries, Sarah Lee Corporation, and Sir Christopher Hatton. Throughout his life, Scott's talents, creativity, and positive attitude brought happiness to all. He loved his family, friends, church, golf, and P.V.E. Scott was a volunteer for P.V. Cares and a proud member of the P.V. Breakfast Club. Scott will be missed by all, but most especially by his son, Bob Chalfant; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Doug Smith; grandchildren, Ryan and Scott Smith, and Jan Fisher, beloved friend. Memorial at the Neighborhood Church in Palos Verdes Estates on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
