  5. My deepest Condolences to the Schafer family, though my acquientence with Richard was business oriented, I had the pleasure to meet him a couple of times, he was always a gentleman in our many discussions, and my heart goes out to his family. I was so sorry to hear of this, RIP Richard. Jerry & Dianne Hubler

  6. Rich was a very humble and genuinely sweet and funny man. Always helpful and very dependable. We shared a love of concerts (The Eagles and Tom Petty in particular) and enjoyed discussing our concert experiences. I remember when he took his wife Louise to the Nokia Theater when it opened a few years ago to see The Eagles and Dixie Chicks concert on the same night I was going. He had told me at the office that he wanted to buy my friend and I drinks and that he would look for me. My friend and I lingered at LA Live and were a little late arriving inside the Nokia, but there was Rich and Louise….waiting for us at the section doors of where my seats were. A man of his word! He will be terribly missed.

  7. I was so sad to hear the news of Rich’s passing. I’ve known him at work for so many years. He was larger than life, and like the others have said here, a man of integrity. I can’t believe I will never hear him say to me “How’s Kelly doing today?” again. It’s surreal. I will miss him so much. He was kind, intelligent, thoughtful and a real team player at Sugar Foods. I will never forget our talks of family. He was so excited about his recent Hawaii trip with Louise. Loved his family so much and always had pictures to share. It’s breaking my heart, but I don’t know if I can come to the funeral b/c of my father’s illness, but I will be there in spirit. We loved you Rich, thank you for sharing part of your life with all of your co-workers. We were all blessed to know you. Rest in peace in heaven. May God comfort your family in their time of grieving.
