Richard A. Martin It is with great sadness that the family of Richard A. Martin announces his passing on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the age of 83. Richard was born on August 25, 1925 in St. Thomas, North Dakota. Richard served in the Army during World War II. He was a 60 year resident of Manhattan Beach and worked for the Southern California Gas Company for 30 years. Richard was well loved by his friends and neighbors who often saw him walking his beloved dog and best friend Ernie. He is survived by his wife Betty A. Martin of Manhattan Beach, CA, daughter Juliana Martin of Santa Fe, NM, daughter, Leslie Sullivan of Hawthorne, CA, Grandchildren Brianne and Kristen Sullivan, Anna Walker, Peter Walker, Andre Schlessinger, Lauren Schlessinger and Great Granddaughters Brooke Walker and Lola Sullivan. A gathering of family & friends for a Memorial Service will be held at White & Day Manhattan Beach Chapel on Thursday April 9, 2009 at 11am, followed by a reception in the Lighthouse Room from 12pm to 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or call 310-348-0356
