Padilla, Piedad, a 15 year resident of Gardena, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008 in Gardena. Born in Tepatitlan, Mexico, Maria was 89 when she died. Maria was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and she always cared for the community, in Tepatitlan she was known as "The Nurse of the Poor". She loved kids and would always make it a point to start a game and play with them. She loved to travel and visited many parts of the world including, Rome Puerto Rico, The Bahamas, Hawaii and the list goes on. One of her favorite Hobbies was to sit and listen to Mariachi music and of course travel. Her passion was her family and God. She was a widow of 20 years and was always full of life.
She is survived by her ten Children, 52 Grandchildren, 67 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by Father, Felix Padilla and Mother, Jovita Padilla. A gathering of family & friends will be held at McMillan & McCormick Gardena Chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 2:30 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. The Rosary service will follow at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 7:00 P.M. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 12:30 P.M. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
