Peter
Mellon, Peter Francis Born January 31st, 1931 in Detroit Michigan. Pete was a long time resident of Manhattan Beach. He passed away August 21st, at the age of 75 after a long and couragous battle with Alpha 1 - Anti-trypsin deficiency. Pete graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School and went on to receive his undergraduate degree in Business before receiving his Master's in Business Administration from Cal State Dominguez Hills. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Korean War. Pete devoted most of his working career in materials management at TRW and it's subsidiaries in Redondo Beach. Family and friends were of the utmost importance in his life. Pete loved and cherished his Scottish heritage. Throughout his life he returned to play golf at St. Andrews & Carnousti with his son, Jim, as his caddy. He was a devout Catholic and a long time parishioner of American Martyrs in Manhattan Beach. Pete loved photography, golf, sports, and gambling in Las Vegas. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Ann Mellon and Father, Peter Joseph Mellon. Pete is survived by his beloved daughter Maria (Bill) Heyes of San Ramon, CA, son James Mellon of Torrance, CA, son Peter (Marybeth) Mellon of Lafayette, CA and former wife, Dolores Mellon of Torrance, CA. Also left behind are his loving grandchildren Heather, Hunter and Hailey Heyes. His sense of humor and personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial Mass will be held at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach on Thursday, August, 31, 2006 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Alpha 1 Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Avenue, Suite 302, Miami, Florida 33133.

We would like to send our most heartfelt condolences to the Mellon family we only knew Pete a short time and we regret that we didn’t have more time to spend with pete, but are grateful for the times that we did spend together.   3. Well he’s playing golf, laughing, drinking and eating with no pains and without an oxygen tank and Driving around town enjoying his company of friends and families. I wish everyone would lived their lives to the fullest as Peter did. I am very fortunate to have known Peter. He will always be in my heart.

I know Pete is in heaven looking down on me and saying “Roomy…I’ve got a standing tee time every day and I don’t have to get up at 3 in the morning to get it”. You all are so fortuanate to have a father & husband that was in a class by himself…that everyone loved. God bless you all in this time of sadness & loss.
