Pericles Aristotle Corkos July 25th 1925 – September 27th 2016 Pericles "Perry" Corkos, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 27th at the age of 91. A native of Skala, Kefalonia, Greece, Perry immigrated to the United States in 1953 where he obtained citizenship and resided in California for the past 63 years. In Greece, Perry served in the Royal Hellenic Navy and the Hellenic Merchant Marines. After immigrating to California, he found work washing dishes in a restaurant and quickly graduated to line cook. Perry worked hard, learned the restaurant business and in 1960, along with his brother-in-law and partner, opened the Torrance landmark, Jody's Coffee Shop; the first 24-hour coffee shop in Torrance. Perry was strong in his faith and an active parishioner at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church since 1960. He was a founding member and co-signer on the loan to purchase the current Church property in Redondo Beach. Perry is survived by his loving wife Terpsi (Terry) of 62 years and his three children Sophie (Phillip), Aris (Joyce), and Alex (Marian). "Papou" Perry was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
