She was born in Gurley, South Carolina on July 10, 1935. Her early years were spent in South Carolina, Virginia, and Long Beach, CA. Pearl was a graduate of Gardena High School and a resident of Gardena for over 60 years. She enjoyed working at Normandie Casino for about 40 years and considered many of her co-workers and customers as her second family. She was "Mama" Pearl to many at the Club. Pearl was passionate about animals and was a friend to every dog or stray animal in the neighborhood. She loved to read, take long, energetic walks, and spend time with friends and family. She was a strong, independent-minded, person, with a caring and generous heart. She will be deeply missed by her family, many loyal friends and wonderful neighbors. Pearl C. Reames passed peacefully away at her home on May 5, 2010 at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Reames Lee, and son-in-law, Roger V. Lee, and her three grandchildren, Michaela, Noelani, and Jared. A memorial service will be held on May 21, 2010, 2 p.m. at White & Day Colonial Mortuary, Redondo Beach, California. In lieu of flowers, donations to a Rescue Animal Group or the Humane Society are welcome in memory of Pearl.
