Paula Renay Johnson was born May 8, 1954 in Los Angeles, California. She was the oldest daughter of four children born to Essex and Thelma Williams. Paula graduated from Fremont High School 1972. She continued her education at Los Angeles Trade and Technical College. Paula's 27 plus years banking career started early as a bank teller and after a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment to her career she reached the ranks of an Assistant Vice President during her professional tenure. Most recently, she was an Operational Specialist responsible for performing special internal audits on various U.S. Bank's branches located throughout the Southern California area. Prior to meeting and marrying her husband, Eric C. Johnson, on February 25, 1995, she was blessed with two wonderful daughters Alisa and Aspen and then a son, Eric Jr. A loving mother, she poured her life resources and heart into her children and they always knew that their mom unconditional love was truly unconditional. This "special love" for children was often seen in her involvement with the children of Wadsworth Church of God (WCOG). When Paula joined WCOG, she had an immediate and lasting positive impact upon the hearts and lives of the impressionable children of the church. The love she had for the Lord was demonstrated in the way she taught, developed and nurtured children: patience, kindness and commitment. She served as Children Church Director, Youth director, The Special Program Committee Member, Finance Committee Member, Annual Christmas Shoe Box Ministry, and assisted in the development of the YOV ministry. When she was not working at the bank or at WCOG, she loved cooking, baking, and creating and completing scrap books for her family. Paula enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally with her family. From Hawaii or Alaska to New York or Florida- From Mexico or Canada to St. Marteen or Jamaica she enjoyed visiting different places and meeting people. Paula loved her family and her church and most importantly she loved the Lord! Preceding her in death is her brother Essex Williams, Jr. and father, Essex William, Sr. and brother-in-law Dwight Broadnax Sr. On the early morning of Wednesday, April 7, 2010, Paula slipped away to meet her Lord and Savior. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Eric C. Johnson Sr., three children, Alisa D. Taggart, Aspen E. Clark and Eric C. Johnson, Jr.; her mother Thelma Taylor (John) -Arkansas; her brother Anthony Williams; her sister Tanya Broadnax –Arkansas; family friend Lynn Slaughter; and her nieces and nephews Anthony Williams Jr., Keyana Williams, Ebony Broadnax, Dwight Broadnax Jr., Cydney Broadnax, Taylor Williams, Brisa Johnson, David Johnson, Isaac Johnson, Manual Scott, Christopher Scott, Tiffany Carter and an extensive host of relatives and friends. 3. Although I only had the pleasure of meeting you a little over a year ago, you made my transition to US Bank a little easier. While working and sharing stories, I found that we actually had a lot in common. You were like my US Bank mom. Well I’m definitely going to miss you but I know you’re in a better, stress free place. You’re a true angel. Love always Ms. Paula 🙂

  4. Here’s to the good ol’ days of banking, especially when we were Bank of Los Angeles. I have known you for over twenty five years. During that time I remember when “Big” Eric entered your life and “Little” Eric came along. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Alisa and Aspen but I hear they have blossomed into beautiful young ladies. I felt compelled to say good-bye before I moved away; not knowing it would be our last encounter. My visit to the Culver City Office that summer’s day proved the lasting bond that Bank of Los Angeles would have among those of us who have come to unite at this hour. As we lament, yet rejoice your friendship, may peace be with you.
