Paul J. Tiernan, 83, passed away on August 3rd, 2007. He was born in Providence, R.I. and attended La Salle Academy, Manhattan College (on academic and track scholarships) and Columbia University. After serving in World War I, Paul moved west to California, married his wife Katharine, and raised four children. He enjoyed over thirty years as an elementary school principal, was an active member of the American Legion and loved traveling, especially to Europe. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Katharine, and his son P.J. Paul is survived by his son Peter, daughter-in-law Mary and daughters Maureen and Anne. Also, brothers Robert and Peter, sister Pat, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. We love you Dad. You are in our hearts and we will miss you. Funeral mass to be celebrated Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 at 11AM at American Martyrs Church, Manhattan Beach, CA followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James E. Tiernan Memorial Fund, Rhode Island Foundation, 1 Union Station, Providence, R.I. 02903.
