Patricia Ann Ortiz, a long-time resident of Torrance, CA died Saturday October 21, 2017 in her home from the effects of Dementia. Born in Ogden, Utah on December 1, 1951 to Hugh and Joell Kretzmar. Shortly after her family moved to the South Bay area of Los Angeles and then finally settling in Torrance, California. Patricia attended Carl Steele Elementary and West Torrance High School of which she fondly reminisced of her time there sharing stories of her favorite classes and teachers. She graduated West High School class of 1970. After high school, Patricia worked at Two Guys department store where she met her future husband David Ortiz. Patricia and David Married December 2, 1977. Together they had three children and they remained happily married until her departure. Patricia loved art, photography, and the beach. At home she enjoyed crafts, gardening, reading, and decorating. She loved watching movies, playing board games, and spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed weekend getaways with her husband and family trips. Patricia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in her early 40’s. Despite some of the diseases harsh symptoms she always managed to keep a positive attitude and a smile on her face. Patricia was an avid supporter of the fight for the cures of MS and HIV/AIDS. She is survived by her husband, David Ortiz; children, David, Mellisa, and Micheal; siblings, Tom and Mary; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services and reception will be held on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions White & Day Center. 901 Torrance Blvd. Redondo Beach, CA 90277.
