Owen "Red" Weibel, a 42 year resident of Torrance, CA, passed away on Monday, August 8th, 2005. Born in Monroe Co., WI, Owen was 78 years old when he was welcomed into God's arms. Owen had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a Building Inspector for the city of Torrance in 1990. Owen was an active member of the Elks Lodge for about 30 years, at one time an Exalted Ruler of the Torrance Lodge. Owen enjoyed being with family and friends while camping, traveling, or simply playing cards. He is survived by his wife for 51 years, Marion Weibel, son Steven Weibel, son Scott (Lori) Weibel, grandchildren Madison Chavez and Max Weibel, all of Torrance, CA, brother Milton Weibel of CO., Sister Joan Conrad of WI, and many more member of his extended family. Preceded in death by: father, Alois Weibel, mother, Florence Weibel, six brothers and one sister. A memorial Mass will be held at St. James Church in Redondo Beach at 9 A.M. on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. A gathering of family and friends will take place immediately after the Mass at the Torrance Elks Lodge. Those wishing to attend, a Military Burial service will follow the reception at 1:45 P.M. at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA., staging area 4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Torrance Elks Lodge Building Fund.
