Johnson, Oscar Elmer, a 75 year resident of the South Bay, most recently of Redondo Beach, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2010 in Torrance. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Oscar was 89 when he died. Oscar had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Redondo Beach Masonic Lodge. Oscar graduated from Banning High School in Wilmington, CA and attended Compton Community College in Compton, CA. He enjoyed golf and deep sea fishing, all sporting events, especially the Los Angeles Dodgers, Angels and Lakers. Oscar is survived by his son, Randy Johnson of Nipomo, CA; son, Kurt Johnson of Redondo Beach, CA; and sister-in-law, Larraine McBride of Santa Maria, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helma and Oscar Johnson; and his wife Alice who passed away in 2007. The Memorial Service will be held at Rice Mortuary Chapel in Torrance on Wednesday October 13, 2010 at 11am.
