Osbie
Osbie Thomas Pruitt, a 51 year resident of Los Angeles , passed away on November 22, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. Born in Mississippi, Osbie was 89 years old when he transitioned. When he moved from Mississippi he was raised on a farm in Hennessey, Oklahoma which led to his love for gardening. He later joined the United States Army and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and retired with a Captain's rank. He was a member of the 9th and 10th Cavalry and the 72nd Tank Battalion. He retired in Los Angeles, California and went to work for the Department of Water and Power in City of Beverly Hills. After 19 years of service he retired. His family and friends will always remember how much he loved music and was a fan of most genres old and new. He was always there to serve not only his country, but his family, friends, and anyone else who was in a time of need. Osbie was an avid reader and loved his collection of books about the wild west. He was a big sports enthusiast and loved his cars. He was also an excellent cook. Osbie is survived by his daughter, Patricia Brooks of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Pamelia Pruitt of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Paulette Pruitt of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Earl Daniels of Wichita, KS; sister, Mildred Turner of Tucson, AZ; 6 grandchildren: Yvette Barlowe, Rebecca Williams, Tjaden Lucero, Meghan Potts, David Ray, Chelsea Ray; and 3 great grandchildren: Remington Barlowe, Rylie Barlowe, and Skyler Williams. The Memorial Service will be held at McCormick's Mortuary in Inglewood on Friday December 4, 2009 at 2pm. Repast follows in the Lighthouse Room until 5pm.
