Oliver
McDermott, Oliver Montgomery, a 22 year resident of The South Bay, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 in Rancho Palos Verdes. Oliver was 60 years old when he died. He was born & raised in Kingston Jamaica. He met his wife of 34 years, Elsie, in Jamaica but immigrated to the USA prior to their marriage. They have one son Peter Oliver McDermott (28) of San Diego. Oliver first worked in banking & later in purchasing. He had an infectious laugh & loved people. He loved to dance & traveled widely with his family. In addition to his wife & son, Oliver is survived by brothers, Cecil, Melvin, Charlie & Ronald & sisters Sandy & Dahlia. As well as nine nephews & nieces. Oliver was a member of St. Peter's By The Sea Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peter's By The Sea. The memorial service will be held at St. Peter's By The Sea Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 4:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Summit Park Cemetery in Rockland County, New York.

  1. Elsie and Peter: The passing of Oliver is such a shock to us. But as everyone knows, Oliver laughter will forever live on. Our sincere condolences.

  9. Elsie McDermott and Family – We learned about Oliver’s death when the Ecumenical Center and International Residence received a memorial gift from Robert and Gloria Giedt in his memory. We have shared with Arlene Schmid and Jean Dotson and Shirley Lewis about his passing – knowing that you and he had roots here with our international community years ago while at the University of Michigan. The Ecumenical Center is doing well. We now have housing for 48 students and our programs are growing.
