Norma Marguerite Piccaro (Riner) 87, Manhattan Beach,CA 9/9/2018 Born:12/12/1930 California Hospital, Los Angeles to: Edwin & Marguerite Riner. She had 2 sisters, Dody & Helen. Norma attended East Los Angeles J.C. & U.C. Santa Barbara. She taught PE and traveled the world as a travel agent. Norma lived all over Los Angeles but once she got to Manhattan Beach that was Home for over 50 years. In 1966 she married Charles F Piccaro at American Martyrs Church. Norma enjoyed swimming, bodysurfing, boogie boarding, amongst many other sports. She was a basketball extra in the 1952 movie Pat & Mike. But her true passion was beach volleyball for 50+ years. She was team mom to every sport her boys played, and there was nothin’ she wouldn’t try. In 1984, Norma was awarded YMCA’s “Good Neighbor Award”. Described by friends as “always going out of her way for people”. She excelled at fundraising! Always willing to share that talent for schools, teams, organizations & people in need. Paper drives, orange sales, food concessions, heading the Hometown Fair committee and serving in the beer garden. Her fund raising efforts allowed those in need to go to camp, become Junior Lifeguards, play soccer, get medical attention, receive a prize and left no one out. She touched the lives of many and was beloved as a Manhattan Beach Community Mom. She always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and important memories and shared a smile, card or note to let you know she was thinking of you. Norma was preceded in death (7 years to the day) by her Mr. Wonderful Charlie (Inky) Piccaro She is survived by her two sons: Charlie (Brigid) and Pete (Lisa), grandson Julian & granddaughter Kelsey. Celebration & Paddle Out on the beach at Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA October 4th at 11am. Please come “Beach Casual” as Norma would want. Following the paddle out we will be honoring Norma by hanging at the beach. Bring your beach gear and Norma stories.   1. I’m sorry to hear of your loss. What a fun woman. I always loved the beach myself. How wonderful it will be for Ms. Piccaro to wake up from death’s sleep and enjoy those beach days again. The Bible assure us that there will be a resurrection. Jesus confirmed this will happen by resurrecting many not to life in heaven but life on earth. The Bible also tells us that the righteous will live forever on the earth. Please accept my deepest condolences.
