“Sisters are different flowers from the same garden”
Niki Diana Christopher, 72, passed away on April 18, 2021 at her home in Torrance California from a battle with lung cancer.
Niki was born October 26, 1948 in Edmonton, Alberta Canada to parents John and Koko Christopher. Her parents relocated the family to Redondo Beach in 1962. She graduated from South Torrance High School in 1966.
An accomplished professional in the financial services industry, Niki worked 30 years at Washington Mutual (formerly American Savings Bank) as a quality service manager, retail compliance officer, and assistant to the chairman, President and CEO. Her next 10 years she worked as an executive assistant to the Presidents and CEOs of Hawthorne Savings Bank and Pictage Inc.
Her family and friends would describe Niki as loving, grateful, kind, thoughtful, and generous. Her heart was huge and always had room for others. She was also organized, pragmatic and purposeful.
Niki loved reading, working in her garden, making flower arrangements, relaxing in her hot tub and traveling with her friend, Sarah. Her interests also included watching football, playing dominos, swimming, water aerobics and dancing. She lived a full and wonderful life.
Niki was deeply loved by her family and friends. She is survived by sisters JoAnn Parmenter of Poway (husband Mark and children John and Michael), and Stephanie Haire of Pleasanton (husband Denis and children Alexis and Austin).
Niki’s Celebration of Life will be held May 25, 2021. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to Cancer Care at Torrance Memorial Hospital.
