Aguilar, Modesta, a 97 year resident of the South Bay, Redondo Beach, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009 in Torrance. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Modesta was 97 when she died. Modesta was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hermosa Beach. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, gardening, and cooking for her immediate and extended family. Modesta was preceded in death by her parents, Mauricio and Catalina Colin; and her husband of 33 years, Guadalupe Gutierrez Aguilar. She is survived by her son, Antonio Colin Aguilar of Redondo Beach, CA; daughter, Dolores Aguilar Mailander of Chino Hills, CA; son, Guadalupe Colin Aguilar of Torrance, CA; daughter, Catalina Aguilar Bopp of Torrance, CA; daughter, Victoria Aguilar Quinn of Ashland, OR; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. A gathering of family & friends will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Wednesday November 4, 2009 from 5 to 9pm, with the Rosary beginning at 7pm. Mass will be held Thursday November 5 at 10am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hermosa Beach. Burial will follow at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, with a Reception in the Rice Mortuary Lighthouse Room until 2pm.   1. My deepest sympathies are with all of you. My tia Modesta has been such a loving and caring aunt. I will always cherish the memories of visiting her at home, her great cooking and her crocheting. The last project she made for us, was a pair of booties to keep Joseph’s feet warm.
