Mildred Ruth Reynolds

Mildred, also known as “Millie” was born January 26, 1926 on a farm in Lenox, Iowa. She was third of six children. She passed away at the age of 97.

Growing up on the farm, she helped her mom and dad with many tasks including driving a tractor and delivering water in the field on a horse. Millie left the farm and her family and went to Kansas City the summer between her junior and senior year of high school to work in a candy store. She graduated from Lenox High School in 1943. After graduation, she lived in Wichita, Kansas where she worked in a Defense Factory for one year. She moved to New Jersey where she worked at a hat factory. After that, she moved back to Lenox and worked at her sister Dorothy’s hardware store as a clerk.

Millie met up with Jerry in 1947. They dated for two months, went to Kansas City and got married July 19, 1947 in a church office. They moved to Long Beach, California where she was an elevator operator at a courthouse. Daughter Kris was born in 1949. They moved to Torrance in 1951. Daughter Jerrilyn was born in 1956. Throughout the years, Millie also did food service and waitressing for different establishments.

Millie had great passion for her family and special gatherings. She is survived by daughter Kris (Ron), daughter Jerrilyn, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Millie will be remembered for her kindness and love of life.
