Dobratz, May Fujiko, a 45 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 in Torrance. Born in Hilo, HI, May was 71 when she died. May was a member of the South Bay Orchid Society. She graduated from UC Berkley with a major in Sociology and a minor in mathematics. Earning her teaching credentials, May was an elementary and pre-school teacher. She was a talented person with many interests - woodworking, plants/gardening, thread arts and traveling. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, knitting garment making reading and growing orchids. She was active in the League of Women Voters. May was passionate about butterflies. May's joy was her family. May is survived by Husband, Burton Dobratz of Torrance, Son, Eric Dobratz of Laguna Hills and Daughter, Marla Orr of Lake Elsinore. She is preceded in death by her parents Fumiko and George Yamamoto. The Memorial Service will be held at McCormick's Mortuary in Redondo Beach on Friday June 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Childrens Charity of your choice.
